Day 1!

So here we are in Greece!! Three time zone changes and almost 15 hours of barely sleeping, and we finally made it. For some of us it’s the first time out of the country (yikes!) but for others, we are accomplished world travelers. Ok well maybe not all of us but we sure like to pretend to be. We had an amazingly smooth trip-our transfers were easy and quick, which is key. Ms. Mellican and Shrita were impressed!
Right now we are on the bus traveling through the city and I have to be honest with you, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I am also writing this on the fly so any random thoughts that are written down is cause I’m thinking it in the moment. Live action folks, there’s nothing like it!
When we were first flying in, Athens looked big, but it is nothing compared to driving in it. We were on the highway riding along side and it felt like the city would go on forever. Everyone was rapidly trying to take pictures of it because it is nothing like we have ever seen before. Fun fact, there are orange and olive trees EVERYWHERE. Its crazy. You can tell that Greece has gone through some rough times, but is also evident that with some repair it could be beautiful. There are trees and plants on every balcony, and there are a lot of balconies. It looks tropical.

One more thing-the real reason we came on this trip- ancient ruins!! They are integrated fully into the city. It’s incredible! We just casually passed an ancient temple in the middle of the city!! Unreal is the only word to describe it.

All right, that’s all I have for you today. Quick recap: smooth flights; huge city; plants, mopeds and ancient things are everywhere!!

P.S. Quick shout out to the Team F falcons from Gates middle school! Miss you guys but hope you’re having fun without me!!
